A series of explosions hit Equatorial Guinea on Sunday, March 7, 2021, killing at least 105 people and injuring more than 600. The blasts hit a military base in the country’s main city of Bata. Officials blame poorly stored dynamite along with stubble burning by nearby farmers. Volunteer teams were immediately on site searching through the wreckage of buildings for any survivors. Almost all buildings and homes in the city suffered huge damage, according to President Teodoro Obiang Nguema.
