Extreme flooding in Kentucky has washed away roads, destroyed up to 50 bridges and swept away entire homes, displacing thousands of people. As of August 1, 2022, 30 people have been confirmed dead, with those number expected to rise as hundreds are currently unaccounted for. In a press conference, Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear said more than 600 people have been rescued by aircraft and boat since the flooding began. More rain is expected in the area, further complicating emergency response efforts.
